Cancer Services
The Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center
The Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital provides compassionate, patient-centered care from diagnosis through treatment and post-treatment care. The Center is also dedicated to prevention, education and the early detection of cancer. A multidisciplinary team of board certified physicians, oncology nurses and technicians provide advanced surgical, medical and technological services in a warm, caring environment.
Cancer Conferences, or tumor boards, provide a forum for the multidisciplinary team to discuss and review cases of breast, lung, genitourinary, gynecological, gastrointestinal, and many other disease sites, including hematological cancers. In these conferences the best treatment for each patient is planned and agreed upon by all the experts in attendance.
The Bennett Cancer Center is a major research center, participating in more clinical trials than any other community hospital in the state. In addition, the peripheral stem cell and autologous bone marrow transplant program is the only one in Fairfield County outside of a university setting.
The Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center is a place for healing, where science and soul come together. Our patients are provided with a superior level of clinical care and access to world-class physicians, skilled nurses and the latest in treatment options, research protocols and supportive services.
A full range of cancer services is available in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, with the oncology team working together to provide the best possible outcome for our patients.
Our full-time Cancer Genetics Counselor leads our Cancer Genetics Risk Program, available to individuals who have a family history, or think they have a family history, that predisposes them to developing cancer.
A variety of support services, including an Integrative Medicine Program, Expression Through Art, and a post-treatment Exercise and Nutrition Program provide our patients with a comprehensive and individualized approach to help them and their loved ones deal with the diagnosis of cancer. Through the generous philanthropic support, these programs are offered at no additional charge to our patients.
The Rosenthal Hospice residence provides residential end-of-life care in a serene setting, adjacent to the Bennett Cancer Center/Stamford Hospital campus.
