Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Stamford Hospital's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is comprised of pathologists who are board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and subspecialty certified in hemopathology and cytopathology. They are supported by an experienced staff of registered medical technologists and pathologist assistants, providing 24/7 service for hospital patients, including outpatients.

A full range of hematologic, chemistry and immunologic testing is available, while the Blood Bank staff manages an ever-increasing demand for blood and blood products. The Microbiology Laboratory provides many services well beyond those typically available in community hospitals, supporting our Division of Infectious Disease.

Professional and technical staff members participate actively in interdepartmental teaching and multidisciplinary tumor conferences, providing vital diagnostic data essential for delivering the high quality of patient care we are known for.
