Emergency Department
For the privacy of other patients, there is a limited visitor policy and it is requested that only one person at a time remain with the patient in the treatment room.
Stamford Hospital's Emergency Department provides care for life-threatening illnesses and injuries, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Emergency Department is staffed by full-time emergency physicians at all times. They are assisted by physician assistants and, at times, residents, who care for patients under their supervision.
The ED's "fast track" area, staffed by a skilled emergency physician, provides immediate attention for less acute emergencies, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. The busiest times of day are typically the hours between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and waiting time may vary according to the time of day and how many other patients are waiting. Monday is typically the busiest day. For patients who require admission to an inpatient unit, Stamford Hospital's bedside registration facilitates the process.

The Emergency Department (sometimes referred to as the Emergency Room) has a case manager and a patient representative assigned to help with your needs while in the ED and, if necessary, assist with your discharge. If you need additional help, please let us know.
